Mr Gelston is very excited to announce that the mrgelston.com site has been updated with new technology and resources. The purpose of the redesign is to integrate the new direction that Mr Gelston is taking through the addition of Digital Storytelling for both his current private students and for the recently announced Online Math Studio.
The Online Math Studio is initially being offered through GHF Online as a one semester program and then in the fall, Mr Gelston is offering full-year cohorts to dig deeply into digital storytelling skills, develop quality collaborations, and engage math through a preferred medium. The initial cohorts will be for pre-algebra which covers math topics to grade 8. The following year, cohorts will be added for high school levels.
The new site is made up of three sections that highlight the work that students are doing, share resources for self-directed math learning, and a tools section for finding digital storytelling tools. When coming to www.mrgelston.com you will now find a new menu item across the top for the Online Math Studio. Under this menu you will find these three new sections:
The Flow is an online bulletin board of projects posted by students from their own blogs as well as articles from Mr Gelston and his collaboration partner Claudia L’Amoreaux.
In the Math Resources section we are compiling math resources from the internet to share with our developing math designers. Most of these resources are helpful for the flipped math classroom. Designers and all on the internet are invited to recommend resources to be placed on the site through a form on the page.
The third section is a collection of tools and their tutorials to be used for digital storytelling. Tools include such items as Windows Movie Maker, Apple iMovie, Gifpal, Scratch, Google Apps, and more. Everyone is invited to recommend tools for the page. Our hope is that these pages are resources for both Mr Gelston designers and designers everywhere.
So, come visit mrgelston.com, look around, and make yourself at home.
