My specialty is in working with students who are non-standard learners and do not respond well to Computer Science instruction that is procedural and rote. My approach is teaching from the concept first, letting students develop their own conceptual understanding so that the procedures flow naturally. I also include relevant code demos and code samples whenever possible. The result is a happy, confident student who is able to see the big picture and can then use the new knowledge in creative problem solving, and in creating code that reflects the student’s authentic understanding of a topic.
