Who are the absent-minded? They are our space cadets, absent-minded professors, dawdlers, mess-makers, and the chronically late. These are the people who seem to disregard many of the ‘rules’ of polite society:
- pick up after yourself
- get your work done
- remember my name
- be on time
Whether you live or work with an absent-minded person, or you are one yourself, you know that some of these characteristics can be challenging, to put it mildly. You might even consider some of these behaviors as rude or disrespectful. The words, “Why can’t you just…” or “Why can’t I seem to…” may come out of your mouth on a regular basis. You may despair of ever fixing, changing, or getting through to your absent-minded friend, spouse, colleague, child, or self. Your frustration level may spike, causing rifts in relationships or periods of self-doubt.
