Mr. Gelston’s One Room Schoolhouse has found its place in the world of gifted homeschool education by offering private lessons that are based on quality pedagogy and respect for the social-emotional needs of gifted children and families. Within this context, we are expanding with a few additional offerings.
- Learning Coach This program features Carol Malueg who is internationally known for her support of gifted families as both a practitioner and advocate for the gifted community. The goal of this program is to support gifted families in organizing their worlds and their development of executive functioning skills.
- Private Computer Science Lessons This program features Kat Murray who is an experienced gifted education specialist who holds an MSE in Computer Information Science. Kat will offer a combination of flexibility and dedication to the structures of quality programming that is designed to capture the interests of gifted learners.
- Currents Events-Social Science Small Group Discussion This program features Darby Kennedy who is an experienced High School teacher, Homeschool Co-op Leader, and Homeschool Mom of gifted children. Darby has created a program that engages the passions of gifted teens to take a deep dive into current events to discover the underlying roots, understanding historical context
and their own experiences.
In time, Mr. Gelston will add additional, but limited, services that are focused on the individualized needs of gifted homeschoolers.
Each one of these programs features a strong leader who has the breadth of knowledge and understanding to flow with the dynamics needs presented by the gifted community. Each professional starts from a position of love and kindness, a joyful attitude, and a deep respect for the needs of gifted people.
